Core infrastructure

The VocaLink core infrastructure is built on an international scale. Our business is all about volume and our systems have to work at the extremes of both speed and throughput. On peak days, we switch over 12 million transactions. The majority of these are domestic withdrawals from UK cardholders. A growing proportion of our business now results from our agreements with international card schemes. We handle transactions initiated in the UK by Visa™, MasterCard™, and PULSE© cardholders, and switch transactions from UK cardholders at ATMs around the world.

Our facilities are managed with dedication, care and vigilance. We update our technology regularly to stay ahead of the forecast growth rates and to be compliant with international card schemes. Our processes and procedures are certified to the ISO27001 standard for information security management. As proof of our commitment to security we employ proven solutions for key management, encryption methodology, fraud detection and monitoring.
